Our Process

When we receive the call to respond to a disaster, Sanitary Cleaners’s restoration specialists can be on-site within three hours to meet with the insured and  adjusters. We provide a room-by-room pack-out of the entire house prior to taking the contents back to our facility where all items are inventoried by bar code. Any emergency clothing needed can also be processed at this time.

After inventory is completed, we begin to ozone, wet clean, and dry clean the textiles as appropriate.

Once everything is odor-free, we begin pressing, folding, and hanging the garments. Garments are inspected and then re-scanned by their bar codes to fulfill the order. All restored items that are returned to hangers are protected by eco-friendly and biodegradable poly and stored in our temperature controlled vault until it is time to return them to the insured. Our inventory process gives us a piece-by-piece breakdown for easy tracking, billing, and more – making it easy for the insured to pickup any item they need before they return home.

Ozone Odor Removal

Smoke odor removal is the biggest challenge when restoring textiles to usable condition. Our ozone chamber, along with special detergents help this process along, makes this an easier process. Ozone is a naturally occurring substance found in nature that we cannot live without.

Ozone is an activated form of Oxygen with three atoms where the regular oxygen has two. Ozone in our upper atmosphere filters out harmful rays from the sun. It is also produced by lightening during thunderstorms – humans experience this as the freshness in the air after a storm.  Ozone is very unstable, so it must be produced at the point of use and cannot be stored in a container for later. Ozone will cast off its third atom to any organic element, thereby oxidizing it or converting it to another substance. In case of odors, it will convert a foul-smelling substance into a non-odorous substance, naturally. Ozone will also destroy molds, bacteria, fungus, mildew, and virus.
