The Cleaning Process
Doing laundry has been a household chore for hundreds of years. Sanitary Cleaners has made it our chore to assist you in the process.
Dry cleaning uses fluids to remove soil and stains from fabric. In fact, the term "dry cleaning" is misleading: it is called dry cleaning because the fluid contains little or no water and does not penetrate the fibers as water does. A non-flammable organic halogen compound called perchloroethylene, nicknamed perc. The liquid chemical lifts dirt from most common fabrics, doesn't cause clothing to shrink or colors to fade.
Among the advantages of dry cleaning is its ability to dissolve greases and oils in a way that water cannot. Dry cleaning helps to return garments to a "like-new" condition using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of color, and fabric distortion.

It Works Like This
When you drop a collared shirt or throw off at the dry cleaners, both are tossed in to a machine that looks and acts similar to that of like an over-sized front-load washer. The machine fills with solvent, and the drum rotates, swishing your clothes around in the (not-water!) liquid that loosens the stain.
The dirt either ends up in a filter, or is separated from the solvent through a distilling process. The perc (or similar) is sealed up in the machine and reused with each wash, transforming from liquid to vapor and back again. When the cycle is finished, these beastly washers take care of the drying, too.
A fancy pressing machine removes all the wrinkles, and then, presto, a perfectly clean and pristine shirt.
Professional laundering for shirts and other "washable" items is another process Sanitary Cleaners uses to keep your garments looking their best. Like in the dry cleaning process, wet cleaning starts with the pretreatment of spots and stains using special cleaning agents. Wet cleaning is the professional process of removing soils from garments and other textile items through the use of water and cleaning agents.
Special detergents, additives, and finishes set commercial laundry apart from home laundering. This process enables your cleaner to offer consistent quality cleaning at reasonable prices. Collars come cleaner and the professional pressing results in a crisper finish.
Along with these procedures, we offer additional services such as garment storage, cleaning furs and leathers, rug cleaning, drapery cleaning, smoke removal, pillow cleaning, family laundry, wedding gown preservation, alterations, and repairs.
